The oldest rum in the world which is still consumed today is the one and only Mount Gay. Going back to 1703 the rum is called after Sir John Gay Alleyne. John managed the Barbados plantation & distilleries in 1747 however his friend purchased the company. John was such a big part of the business that it was named in his honour. Now 300 years on the rum is loved worldwide, consumed daily as the master blenders and distillers who created this rum made the natural flavour be so outstanding.
