The estate was founded in Reims 1760 and is the fifth-oldest Champagne house in the region. Since the early 20th century, the House of Delamotte has produced predominantly Blanc de Blancs Champagne in the Grand Cru village of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger.
Maison Delamotte’s wine are among those preferred by the Champenois who recognise consistent quality and unflagging respect for the terroir and the Côte des Blancs.
While Delamotte makes a rosé and a brut non-vintage blend, its star wines are the NV and Vintage blanc de blancs. President of Champagne Salon and Champagne Delamotte, Didier Depond explains that ‘Chardonnay has better potential to age than Pinot Noir. Pinot gets fat and evolved, while Chardonnay retains its freshness, so blanc de blancs will always last longer than blends or blanc de noirs.’
