History: The name chianti derives from a geographical area in the Tuscany region and has an Etruscan origin. Wines that can be classified as Chianti are produced from a fairly large area that stretches from the plains along the Mediterranean shores near Livorno, to the mountainous region near Florence and Siena. The Chianti area is also a famed touristic destination with rolling hills, neat agricultural landscapes and a healthy gastronomical tradition based on local products.
Regional Information: Thanks to the excellent microclimate of the area, chianti reflects the characteristics of the terroir it represents and is a soft, pleasantly fruity wine with a strong and well-defined character.
