Tasting Notes:
The initial notes of the bouquet are sweet, tinged with a red berries fruit salad (wild strawberries, raspberries, pomegranate seeds) complemented by tart notes (blood oranges, star fruit) before evolving towards darker fruit (blackcurrants, figs) and finally a hint of spice (black pepper, dark chocolate, cinnamon)
On the palate, the attack confirms this champagne's voluptuous character. The polished structure of the Pinot Noir is accompanied by a sensation of crisp stone fruit (plums, cherries).
A delicate astringency underscores the long finish (pink grapefruit, lime zest).
Vintage 2013:
Whereas the first decade of the 21st century brought record early harvests, 2013 saw the grapes ripen in October, a lateness unseen since 1991. In fact, the entire growth cycle, from bud break to harvest, was delayed by two to three weeks due to the cold and wet weather. The challenge was to achieve a maturity that complied with the standards required in Champagne whilst also keeping the vines in perfect health. In this context, moderate volumes and meticulous sorting enabled a balance between sugar and acidity that exceeded our expectations.
