Description

Charles Heidsieck Rose Millesime 2006 Magnum (1.5Ltr)

Tasting Notes:

An extreme nose of naturally made strawberry stick and blend with cinnamon, cardamom, nectar and pink praline.

On the sense of taste it is layered and complex with notes of liquorice, blackberry tea, fruits, pink peppercorns and crisp figs.

The completion is long and refined.

Vintage 2006:

This Rose was produced using a determination of 15 crus all through Champagne. The Chardonnay was picked from Oger, Mesnil-sur-Oger, Cramant and Vertus - all backbones in the great Charles Heidsieck mixes. Key vineyards for the Pinot Noir were Avenay, Tauxiëres, Ambonnay and Ay.

Grapes which make the red wines for the rosè component were from Bouzy, Ambonnay, Les Riceys, Verzenay and Hautvillers.

2006 in Champagne introduced different difficulties in the vineyards, which at last prompted an extremely effective harvest. Winter was exceptionally cool, with substantial snowfall over the locale. The spring that took after was punctuated by vicious storms, prompting a searing July, then a cool August. The shift of hot and cool climate was extremely gainful for the development of the grapes. The Pinot Noirs were especially rich, driving Charles Heidsieck to choose this year to make a vintage Rose.

Grape Variety:

63% Pinot Noir, 37% Chardonnay

Background Information:

Charles Heidsieck is one of most respected Champagne houses on account of the unrivaled and reliably high caliber of its wines. The present extent is a standout amongst the most recompensed accumulations of wines on the planet, something underlined when Chef de Cave Thierry Roset was named 'Shimmering Winemaker of the Year' at the International Wine Challenge this year. This was the fifteenth time that Charles Heidsieck's winemaking group had won this honor, yet the first for Thierry, who has been working at the house following 1988. He assumed control over the reins in 2012, having worked with both the immense Régis Camus and the unbelievable Daniel Thibault. This winemaking legacy, combined with the house's colorful history since its establishment in 1851 by the man who might get to be known as 'Champagne Charlie', makes it a novel offering from Champagne: a house with awesome wines, champagne legacy and demonstrated quality all through its extent.
